Il Seccatoio is a magical place, away from the chaos of the city where one can unplug, surrounded by peace and nature. A place where time seems to have stopped. The location is delightful, clean and organized while maintaining the simplicity and authenticity that also distinguishes the hostess. We felt welcomed as if we were at home, while still preserving our intimacy. It was two unforgettable days for us. We returned home relaxed and at the same time enriched by the stories that Il Seccatoio, Mariarosa and her family shared with us.

Very beautiful and clean structure, close to both Riolunato and Le Polle, located in the middle of the greenery, the hostess and husband are really kind and courteous, super breakfast, room with bathroom really nice. I had a great time! The only thing is the village bells that also mark the time at night! Highly recommended.

Location, welcome, availability were the most striking and immediate elements of the stay at Il Seccatoio. Maria Rosa and her husband are high-level guests. Their breakfasts are excellent and they have been able to respond to our needs. We will come back and highly recommend it for short and long stays.

Area Castello

Riolunato, a town in the Frignano territory, one of the most beautiful places in the whole Apennine range, is situated in a rather small basin protected by the encircling arm of rugged mountain peaks: Mt Cimone, Mt Cantiere and Cento Croci.

The medieval town centre reflects the glorious past of this Apennine district which witnessed the rise and fall of the notorious Marquis Obizzo of Montegarullo in the history of Frignano.

Next to the town the fast flowing rivers Scoltenna and Rio di Castello are found crossed by ancient bridges like the Fola bridge on the road to Pievepelago and the Ponte della Luna leading to the small village of Groppo.

Here you breathe a different kind of air: an enchanted atmosphere where it is easy to dream and believe in the old legends and the amazing stories told by the local inhabitants and even to sing as they do in the well-known local May Day folk festival.

A green oasis nestling among the towering mountains crowned by majestic old chestnut and beech woods.

From the Alpe Lunata a stream rushes down flowing around the medieval village and the Castello de' Pelosi, also known as the Castello di Riolunato or Rio de Lonate.
